Knotted, Neglected & Severely Matted Coats

Pets with matted coats require extra attention. Mats in a pet's coat grow tight, and can ultimately damage and tear the pet's skin, which provides a breeding ground for parasite infestations. Groomology will not cause serious or undue stress or discomfort to your pet by attempting to brush out coast in this condition.

Mats can be exceedingly difficult to remove and may require the pet to be shaved. Removing a heavily matted coat can cause knicks, cuts or abrasions due to skin becoming trapped in the matting. Heavy matting can also trap moisture, urine and feces near the pet's skin, allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, producing skin irriatations that existed prior to the grooming process.

After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions, and failure of the hair to regrow. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. Prevention is the best defense against matting. At Groomology, we reccommend scheduling regular grooming appointments every 4-8 weeks. If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, you will be notified beforehand.

By scheduling an appointment, you acknowledge that you agree to this procedure, and any risks associated. There will be an additional charge ranging from $30  -  $150 depending on the severity of the matting and coat condition. It is very time consuming and causes extra wear and tear on grooming equiptment. All medical expenses for veterinary care resulting from matting will be covered by the pet's owner.

Health, Medical Problems & Senior Pets

Grooming can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or pet with health problems, and can exposet hideen medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. Because senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chanve for injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. All medicaly expenses for veterinary care resulting from age or health problems will be covered by the pet's owner.

Refusal of Service for Highly Stressed, Aggressive or Dangerous Dogs

Owners MUST inform Groomology if you pet has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other dogs, or specific grooming procedures. Groomology has the right to refuse any services at any time. In the event that your pet is too dangerous to groom, Groomology has the right to stop grooming services, or cancel grooming services at any time before, during or after grooming and the client will be charged a grooming fee (for what was done up to that point.)

Late Cancellations, Reschedules & No-Shows

Our daily schedule depends upon appointments being kept. Each day we have a fixed number of appointments available. Because of this, we request a 24-hour advanced noticeif you are unable to keep your appointment so that we have time to schedule someone else in the space. We understand emergency situations and will work with you, but not on a continued basis.

Last minute cancellations, reschedules and no-shows may be subject to a fee equal to 100% of the service(s) that were scheduled, which will be charge to your card on file. A pre-payment in full may be required before another appointment is booked.

Late Pick Up Fees

All pets must be picked up within 30 minutes of the text stating your pet is complete and ready for pickup, unless discussed beforehand. We respect your time and assume you respect ours. We hope you understand that, like you, we have family and plans after we leave the studio.

We can give a "heads up" call or text if you live further away or just need the extra time to be able to pick up your pet on time.

If we are unable to reach you and your pet has not been picked up within the 30-minutes notice of your pet being complete,  late pick up fees will incur.

Late Appointment Drop Off

Our days are built on appointments, we schedule pets based on how our schedule looks for the day. When a pet comes in late for an appointment, it can throw the entire day off, and every appointment there after is behind. We prefer to run on schedule and hope that you respect us and every one else's appointments. After 5 minutes late, a phone call will be given to see if you are on the way. If you are going to be more than 5-minutes late, we have the right to cancel your appointment and a no-show fee may be applied.

Fleas, Ticks & Vaccinations

Groomology strives to be a flea-free establishment. If your pet has fleas, they will be given a flea bath at your expense. If you do not wish to receive one, you can reschedule your appointment after the issue has been taken care of. If fleas are found after your departure, they will be given a flea bath at your expense. If fleas are found, Groomology also has to throrougly clean the studio and possibly flea-bomb the facility. Extra fees may incur.

All ticks will be removed. Depending on the severity of ticks, there may be additional fees or be recommended to have a veterinary specialist examine your pet.

All pets are strongly recommended to be current on core vaccinations, such as Distemper and Parvovirus. Your pet must be up to date on their Rabies vaccination as required by Michigan law in order to receive any services. Thank you for your understanding.

Veterinarian Authorization for Accidents or Medical Emergencies

Although accidents are very rare, there is a risk when dealing with animals. Grooming equiptment is sharp. By scheduling an appointment, you provide Groomology full authorization to seek medical care from an immediate veterinarian in the case of any medical emergencies while your pet is in the care of Groomology.

CPR & First-Aid

You understand that Groomology will make a reasonable attempt to contact you before incurring such expenses, that we may need to incur such expenses if we cannot reach you, and that an emergency situation could arise where it would not be feasible for us to contact you before the expense is incurred, includling but not limited to, first-aid, CPR and/or emergency veterinary care.
